According to the provincial planning for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050, Quang Nam will modernise the transportation infrastructure in accordance with national planning, ensuring intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity along the coastal economic corridors, East - West economic corridors, synchronous connections in the whole country, and international connectivity.

Chu Lai airport, Quang Nam seaport, and Nam Giang international border gate are hubs. The East - West national highway axes, such as 14D, 14B, 14E, 40B, 14G, and the North - South axes will soon be improved and upgraded.

Quang Nam will improve the system of road infrastructure, including 3 motorways: the North - South, the Da Nang - Bo Y Border Gate, and the Quang Nam - Quang Ngai.

The province also upgrades 10 national highways with a total length of about 968,329km, an increase of 92km through Quang Nam, including the national highways No 1, 14B, 14D, 14E, 14G, 14H, 24C, 40B, Dong Truong Son Road, and Ho Chi Minh Road.

Among them, Quang Nam will give priority to the traffic routes transporting large volumes of goods on the East - West corridor.

They are connected with the North-South axes to form a key transportation network between the regions and areas from the plains to the mountains, connecting the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone with Nam Giang International Border Gate Economic Zone and Central Highlands.

At the same time, Quang Nam will dredge the new channel of Cua Lo, connecting with Tam Hiep, Tam Hoa, Ky Ha wharfs, etc. so that the port can receive 50,000 - tonne ships.

The seaport will become a seaport of class 1, associated with the tax-free area and airport to form a logistic centre. The province will develop the seaport into a centre for container logistics services in Central Vietnam and Central Highlands, and into a key cargo hub of the East - West corridor 2.

Quang Nam will build 3 cargo port clusters, 2 on the Thu Bon, Vu Gia, and Truong Giang rivers, with a capacity of 500,000 tons/year to receive 400-tonne ships.

The province will upgrade 5 ports for tourism services in Hoi An, Cham Islands and An Hoa with their capacities of 150,000 and 50,000 passengers a year respectively.

Concurrently, Quang Nam will build at least 2 passenger ports on Thu Bon and Truong Giang rivers with a capacity of about 150,000 passengers a year.

Also, Quang Nam will improve a system of 3 railway, including the existing North - South, the North - South high speed railway, and the Da Nang - Central Highlands railway after 2030.

The province will develop 2 urban railways: Chu Lai- Tam Ky- Hoi An- Da Nang International Airport, and Hoi An (Quang Nam) – Ngu Hanh Son (Da Nang)

In terms of airways, Quang Nam calls for investment in Chu Lai International Airport to meet the criteria for an international airport in the region.

The airport will provide some services, such as passenger and cargo transportation, repair and maintenance of aircraft and flying equipment.

Quang Nam will set up a hi-tech centre for production, manufacturing, and processing high-value products imported and exported by air.
