(QNO) - A delegation from Wernigerode city (Germany) has a working visit to Hoi An city, Quang Nam province, from March 10 to 13.
At the meeting, the two cities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on maintaining and promoting twinning and cooperative relationships.
Accordingly, Hoi An and Wernigerode agreed to further promote the cooperation relationship between the two cities, such as fostering cultural exchange, and tourism promotion.
In particular, Wernigerode will support Hoi An to achieve Tourcert tourism certification in the coming time.
The two sides also agreed to cooperate in building the Wernigerode garden in Hoi An city, support each other to build a dossier to request the German Government to sponsor the "Eco-city Road" project in Hoi An in order to raise local awareness of environmental protection and adaptation to climate change, continue implementing the vocational training project for Hoi An workers in Wernigerode in the fields of nursing (elderly care), tourism, banking...
The twinning relationship between Hoi An and Wernigerode was established in 2023. Since then, the two cities have continuously cooperated and exchanged in the fields of economics, culture, education, tourism, science, and the environment.
Last year, several activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the partnership between the two cities were held in Wernigerode, including the 3rd Hoi An Lantern Festival and the inauguration of the Hoi An Garden at Wernigerode People's Park.
